10 substantial new container ships with a carrying capacity of more than 13,700 TEU have been ordered by Ocean Network Express (ONE).
The ocean carrier said that this latest order, which comes after the 10 ships bought in May 2022, is in keeping with the ONE’s medium-term plan, which was first revealed in March 2022.
In 2025 and 2026, the new container ships will be delivered. The 10 new vessels will have a bow cover and other energy-saving features, and they will be prepared for methanol and ammonia as well.
According to the ocean carrier, ONE has also begun discussing with the shipyard and equipment suppliers about implementing onboard carbon capture and storage when the vessel is deployed.
The company\'s objectives are to increase the competitiveness of its fleet and satisfy customer demand for establishing and maintaining an effective and dependable supply chain by ensuring a stable deployment of new cutting-edge container vessels without being constrained by transient fluctuations in the container market, according to an official statement from ONE.
In the pursuit of carbon neutrality by 2050, ONE places a high focus on green strategy.
