In order to anticipate the wave of investment shift from China as well as the role of the "world factory" of Vietnam, Samsung IT and logistics solutions company (Samsung SDS) does not directly participate in the market in the sense of a company shipping but "join the battle" in the field of logistics digitization platform (Cello Square). At the Hanoi Cello Square 2023 Conference, Mr. DongKyun Kim, Head of the Smart Logistics Department of Samsung SDS in Asia - the Pacific region, assessed that Vietnam is increasingly occupying an important position in the global production chain.
According to research by Samsung SDS, about a year ago, China\'s labor costs increased by over 60%, and in the past 5 years they have gone up by more than 30%. Manufacturing plants in China are gradually moving to Southeast Asia (including Vietnam) and India partly due to the US-China trade dispute. Moreover, according to a report by Oxford Economics, the total export volume of ASEAN in the next 6 to 10 years is expected to surpass China.

Mr. Kim Dongkyun, Head of the Smart Logistics Department of Samsung SDS Asia - Pacific shared about the opportunities in the logistics field in Vietnam.

“Vietnam is gradually becoming the world\'s new factory, and the manufacturing industry is increasingly internationalized and approaching the world. Vietnam is also considered one of the important links of the global retail chain”, said the Head of the Smart Logistics Department of Samsung SDS in the Asia-Pacific region. He also realized that this was an opportunity for small businesses. Hence, it is the reason why Samsung SDS decided to bring the logistics digitization platform - Cello Square to Vietnam.
It is the above shortcomings in the logistics industry that will be an excellent opportunity for businesses if they can come up with digital platforms. That significantly change the method of logistics in Vietnam, the platform on which businesses can manage their transporting operations from start to end such as getting quotes, signing contracts, checking the real-time parcel location, and analyzing data, Mr. Kim Dongkyun assessed.
Reportedly, Samsung SDS provides global logistics services in 36 countries, 53 centers, and 230 locations. With about 1,900 international logistics partners, they handle about 410,000 tons of goods by air and 1,010,000 tons of goods by sea. Samsung SDS is one of the top 10 logistics companies in the world.
